    Mike,

Rattling cores are generally associated with early originals.
In any case a rattling core doesent mean fake or real.
I actually prefer the core to rattle a bit.

As for the cross shown,im reserving my comment till you get better pics.

Based on the one provided, the cross has a somewhat "artificial" look.

Maybe its good??... but try to take a look in the big yellow book from Niemann, there is a cross, very similar. But i dont have the book right here, so this is the best i can do.

      Regards Thomas.
      Best regards Thomas.

            Hi Mike,
Try a search for 'Schinkelform B'. It could be or is trying to be one of these. It looks the right shape but I'm not sure on the dates.

Take look at posts #20 and #21 in the Fakes gallery. I think it's the same type.

Looking to some threads with the same cross, its still not clear if this one is wartime or not...interesting!! Could be a new type of cross...Bob Hritz has the same one and had the cross for more than 35 years...
                Could be a nice discussion

                  Good call Tim,

It's the same cross, only the paint on the swasi is a little heavier. The dates, beading, everything matches up to the 'straight-leg' fake, if indeed this cross in the fakes gallery is a fake. Looking through our archives and the thread 'Rick S' started 'EKII list pics' I find no original that matches this cross. It has the looks of a one-piece cross to me, but maybe not.

Bob, is your cross a one-piece, and does it really compare to this?

                  Robert

I have examined this particularly cross and its definitately a 3 piece construction...But the (very) little weight concernes me. Its smaller in size than a regular EK II.

It worries me also that the core is rattling heavy. Theres space between the beading and the core. In the pictures in post 20/21 I also see a lot of shadow and it looks it has the same effect...

This is a well discussed cross.

Most consider it fake, some don't. Those who don't generally own one.

I have to admit that I ain't really sure on this one.
I was offered one a while back with a DN COA, at a very modest price.
But since I have seen one of these one a german dealer's site (Thomas Huss I think) with an extemely big gap between the frame and the core, nad have read about it a lot, I decided to let it go.

I still think it is a very good copy of the schinkel-B...

                          Best regards,
                          Ben
