how to fold ribbons

Apologies for the dumb question: I recently purchased some awards, quite common, from DN. They cam with a brand new ribbon cut,which i have to mount on the medal. Which is the correct way to fold it and mount it on the medal ring to give it the right look?

One technique is to roll the ribbon into a small 'tube' length-wise, slide it through the hanging loop at the top of the medal; once the loop is slid half-way down the ribbon, un-roll the ribbon and 'pinch' in either side of the ribbon where it goes through the loop and flatten out the rest of the ribbon. Put the ribbon portion under a hefty book for a day or so to get it to hold it's flat shape .
