    EK1 Schinkel

I want to share with all of you this early iron cross.
Damage on top side, unmarked, prime quality, well used piece, non magnetic center (gray color alloy), original iron pin (electroplated finish) with form like WWI examples.

    Any clue about the maker?

Although it is not a regular schinkel, it is a schinkel-variation.

I have 2 of these, needle and screwback version, and a ek2 with the same core.
              The cores are zinc.

You can find one on Weitze's site, listed as schinkel, for 650 Euro's.

              Best regards,
              Ben

I am very curious about several things. The first is the two slightly different 9's in the date. The second would be the poor beading definition on the upper inside corner of the right cross arm. Lastly the 'wear' patterns or overall condition seems to be very similar between the two EK's shown here.

Can anyone post one of these 'Schinkle variants' in better condition?

                            Tony

                              Tony,

if you take a very close look at numerous ek's, you will notice that difference between both 9's are not unusual.

Poor beading you can find on a number of crosses as well, even after LDO started there regulations.

                              Best regards,
                              Ben
