What's the verdict on my new EK I? Weight & dimentions are within the norms. It's slightly vaulted.

      Hello

It looks like a Schinkel type EK1. However before giving an answer, I'd like to see better photos, so could you please post a sharper, clearer photo / scan of the front and also one of the back please.

      Thanks.

      Regards
      David

        Hello

Looks like you were just posting the rear photos as I was typing my last post.

In my opinion this is not a genuine WW2 EK1.

Judging by the shape and style, from the front it is trying to be a Schinkle, but not quite pulling it off. The 'L/12' makers mark is that of Junckers. However, as far as I am aware the Schinkle variants of the EK1 aren't encountered with maker marks, the screwback disc isn't the correct type for a period Schinkle, (they are of the clamshell style).

As I say, just my opinion, but I don't like it. Sorry.

        Regards
        David

              I too agree with David.
this appears to be the Polish Schinkel-fake with a different set-up.

The width of the flange ist still uneven, just like that on the schinkel-copies.

              Not good, sorry......

              Regards,
              Ben

                  Hello,

actually does not match up anything to an Schninkel and Juncker cross.
IMO is it a nice experiment to sell a crude exicuted cross, surely not older than 10 years, in a new combination.

As I understand it, it concerns here a copy.

                  Best Franki

                      Fake Iron Cross Screwback

In a post script to this thread, I should like to add that Ken Greenfield, the owner of Der Rittmeister, is a man who is as good as his word.

I let him know that the cross in this thread is a fake, and he said to mail the it back to him for a refund. He has a lifetime guarantee on any of his items that turn out to be bogus. And he went on to say that he isn't in business to make his problem my problem.

According to the postmark dates on my certified mail card, and his letter, his check was in the mail to me the day after he received the cross. (Why it should take eight days for the USPS to get a priority package from North Dakota to Florida is another story.)

Anyway, I will be doing business with him in the future, and I can say from personal experience that he is definitley a man that you can buy from with confidence.
