I believe the red, under the wreath, is also enamel.

I think that the next thing to do would be to test some "accepted" Zimmermanns and see what, if any, variations there are in the amounts of elements in them.

That would make the most sense George. Afterall, the best conclusions are determined from many tests, not just one, to create a "best fit" in the data.

But, since the above data was NOT the expected results hoped for (which was the ONLY reason the testing was done in the first place), I'm sure this won't be happening very soon.

Not sure if it's significant or not, but in the pictures previously posted of the dotted examples, I don't see the tiny die flaw in the 10 o-clock position of the dark starburst piece often attributed to Zimmermann lights.

                        Scott,

the wreath was always different - that's what started it all.

There seems to be some confusion and premature iinterpretation of the data. I can only speak for me and what I see is that 3 out of 4 tested areas check out to be consistent with what we would accept as wartime.

What that means, IMHO, is that it is neither proven that the 'dotted' cross is wartime nor is it proven to be postwar.

This result is interesting but it is for sure not spectacular in the sense of a great revelation or a solid "yes' or "no".

Dietrich, I was referring to the small flaw on the dark starburst piece, not the wreath.

What would be the costs and logistics of getting a few "regular" 20s tested?

There is one for sale at a famous Hamburg dealer site. "Unused condition, still original wrapped in the cellophane paper inside the case."
