    11/16th x 11/16th" Miniature 3 pc. EKII

    Although this is a 1914 EKII I felt it would get more exposure in this section.

    I just bought this fantistic miniature boutonniere of either an Imperial 1914 Iron Cross II class, or a miniature of the Grand Cross (what do you think?).

    What is so amazing, is that it is actually three piece construction just like a standard award piece. The frames are both silver and the core is made of iron. It measures 11/16th x 11/16th inches. It is not maker marked but beautifully made.

          Three piece is unique. The core moves a bit so you're sure it's multi piece construction?

            Thanks for taking a look. The core does not move. It is sandwiched between the silver frames perfectly. If you loupe it you can definately see that it's 3 piece. It is also magnetic and you can see the solder joins. Unfortunately my old camera does not take close up pictures very well at all but in the third picture you can see the join line on the one arm.

              Dear Chuck,

              A very nice piece. I esp like the basket weave like button. All in the little details. IMO a 1914 EK2 min.

                  It never ceases to amaze me what type of varient you may find within our field of collecting.

                  I will try to get my camera to take some better pictures of it today. One out of 50 or 60 shots will come out alright. Let me see what I can do.

                    In trying to get better pictures today, which I failed at, I did get this one, which is not the best, but it does show the stepped iron core of this mini. It can be seen on the 9 o'clock arm. You can also see where the corner of the beading laps over the "W" just a little bit.

                      Nice catch Chuck, never seen a mini like this either. Here's a similar button, it's actually marked on top of the center attachment "dep.".

                          I have looked mine over from top to bottom and there are no marks anywhere. Too bad to, it would be nice to know who the maker was.
