    L/18 EK1 Pin Back Marking ?

Hello. I have heard that L/18 first class Iron Crosses were marked this way on screwbacks, while the pin back versions were marked with 26.

I recently saw a pin arm version marked L/18. Do any of you know of this maker putting the LDO number on a non screwback version?

    Appreciate any answers !

    Hello,

Like the lowest reverse arm on this KvK_1 with L/18 stamped?

Hello William and thank you for the reply.

I will try and find the photo. The L/18 stamp was in the middle of the pin arm facing outwards. There was no marking on the rear base at all.

I have seen 26 stamped in the same location, but never the L/18 so I was just wondering if this was ever done by this maker.

      Best Regards,

      Glen

        Hi Glen,

26 AND L/18 marked pinbacks (EK1s and KVK1s) are certainly known, as of course are L/18 screwbacks. A "26" marked screwback technically should not exist, as screwbacks were only (briefly) authorised for private purchase (ie LDO controleld) and were not award pieces. Having said that, there's probably an unauthorised but genuine exception out there somewhere!
