It looks like Deumer, but something doesn't feel right,
What is it made of ? ...color looks kind of like copper,
the "file marks" on reverse doesn't mach,
the head on Deumer's filed around different.

... and if it is copper, it may be was done this way, ...check out this site.

            Interesting article on electroplating fakes...
this is not a deumer to me
close pics of the edges would be interesting, and composition?
            regards

Two things bother me about this one.

              a. The look of the eagles head,
              b. The color of the base metal.

Some are concerned about this badge, the material, the edges and etc.. I have taken some more pictures to try to satisfy, as best I can, the interests expressed....although I am not in the least concerned about the badge, other than to get an idea on the maker. This is of course is because of the circumstances of the acquisition......which would be just another story......and the time frame of it, which was well over 40 years ago. I won't bore you with the story, suffice to say that no peddler of fakes could make money even then at the price I paid. If I allocated a price to each item I got that day, the price would be about 75 cents on this item, with the case. In the upper right of the open lid there is a very faint L/?? stamped.....I can't read the number and I can't seem to get it to show in a photo.

I don't think the material is copper........looks more like brass under an eye loupe. I have done the best I could with the photos.....hard to focus on the edges without digging out my tripod and etc.. Maybe I will have time later, if this doesn't answer the questions.

                Thanks,
                Ron

                  Those are great shots Ron
I think the color is what gives most of us the jitters, but it could just be the way the finish has reacted over the years...
                  IMO it's 100%
the maker? I don't know. Not a known one to me, but does look familiar. Probably one of the many unmarked
                  p.s. I'll take it for 75c
                  regards

I appreciate the offer........but I think I would have to pass. It needs to stay with the Heer Eickhorn dagger with hanger that he brought out and told me I could have for $6.. Went down the road to another guy he referred me to and bought 2 Japanese swords for $10..........great day.....wish I could do that now, but I am too old and slow now.

Doesn't look bad, but it is definitely not the Deumer's strike .

Certainly must be an original badge. Most likely unworn and left to degrade to some extent inside its original case. Several years of off gassing from the case had some effect on the finish.

I personally have not seen a spange of this design before. We know it's not a Deumer becuase of the many Deumers posted here, yet it does show some compatitive similarities. This is one to be researched further. The archives may hold some answers.

                            Hello

I like it and feel it is an original First Class Bar to the Iron Cross. I'd certainly be happy to have it in my collection.

                            Regards
                            David

Since most seemed to agree that is original (which I have no concern about, since I know where I got it and the circumstances of it....no one brought it to me, I found it on one of my many hunts in the 60s [went to an area and starting asking at service stations, grocery stores, barber shops, and beer joints about local vets who were in WW2 and might have brought something back....then went to their houses and knocked on the door, etc. etc........good way to get shot in today's world]) but didn't know the maker, has anyone come up with a maker? It is still not for sale by the way.

                              Thanks,
                              Ron
