Could some one please post pictures of the front and back of a ribbon attached to an EK2? How did it attach to a tunic or shirt front? With a pin? Also, what is the deal with UV light and checking a ribbon's authenticity? Thanks, Ausgang

EK2 Ribbon Question

Generally one end of the ribbon was slipped through the button hole and sewn onto the inside flap of the tunic,The other end was slipped around the front of the tunic and sewn onto the inside flap of the tunic .Sorry i dont have a photo but im sure someone will.
As for the UV test,if the white sections of the ribbon glow(like a modern t shirt),the ribbon is generally postwar,Of course some cloth items will glow if washed in detergent but in the case of ribbons its pretty much a 99% death knell.
Also dont forget measurements,The ribbon issued with the ek was 30mm and the button hole ribbon was 25mm.Any ribbons that fall outside these measurements should be viewed with suspicion. Also check the scalloping on the edges.Originals usually have a clearly scalloped edged.
