Following on from this thread http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=202970 in particular the second page, I am starting a new one to clarify exactly why '333' marked crosses are regarded as fake. I am posting these photos on behalf of fellow member valsente (Gian) I will leave it to him to comment and raise points regarding this cross.

Thanks a lot Adrian:
I have one of these crosses that has the following measurements: width 44,50 mm, swastika 11 mm, weight 21,05, three pieces construction.
I could bet my life on its originality, but... a lot of people say not, it's fake. So I would like to know why it should be a fake ( Put aside for a moment the unknown mark. There are a lot of unknown marks among nazi items ).
Someone tells that these crosses come from England where an old faker assembled them using real rims and faked cores. That's not so credible in my humble opinion.
I've seen that in a lot of these crosses, the best ones in the stuff, the rims have some golden traces. This is very common in a few examples that I have had in my hands. I remembered that 333/666/999 are German marks for golden or golden plated items. What do you think about the possibility that one or more producers, on request, made some golden plated crosses and marked them with the gold titre used? If I'm not wrong I remember to have read about some golden plated WWI iron crosses so it's not impossible that, I don't know for which a reason, someone ordered this kind of crosses also in WWII.
I know that this is a crazy idea but also Galileo wasn't believed in other times...
Nobody has been able to demonstrate that these crosses are fake basing is theory on the construction methods or type of metals used for.
The only usual response is: they are fakes because no maker marks with these number results officially till to day. Probably it's so but I would like to get a technical explanation.

These appeared out of no where just a couple of years ago. Where were they before that? Go ahead and discount the number if you wish, I'm sure the other 150 or so missing makers in between this number and the highest known LDO number are just waiting to be discovered and some dealer out there (Floch) will make them appear for you. Go ahead and talk about everything that is unknown, that is what "they" want. Forget everything we have worked so hard to discover and head into unchartered territory. As long as you have the money to burn go for it. If you think fakes haven't gotten this good float on down to the badges forum.pseudo-expert
