Advice on German Cross in gold

    Hello

I am a new poster, really seeking some advice from people who know more about these things than I do.

I own this German Cross in gold, given to me by a veteran as a child. This particular guy took this medal from a German I guess either upon capturing him or after the German's defeat. I know a bit about it from doing some research and only then discovered it's quite valuable - I know, it's wasted on me! - and was looking for some advice on how best to sell it on to someone who would appreciate it more. My problem seems to be that dealers will only offer me about 50% of its worth and considering I've been told it's worth up to £1400 I'd be a little miffed to only receive £700 for it. I'd thought about ebay but then would people be willing to buy something like this from ebay considering I understand there are a good number of fakes kicking about? It's a 134 Klein in good condition by the way, I'd post a picture of it but I can't figure out how to!

    I'd appreciate any advice!

Try selling it on the e-stand here. Please get it checked by posting on the list first.

That sounds like an idea. Are people likely to want to buy it? I'll do a good price! Hopefully Nico is getting a couple of pics posted on this thread so people can see it! I'm open to offers!

It looks like a nice, genuine cross to me

Very nice indeed, great condition too!

Stay away from the "dealers" they would give you about half of what it's worth.

Without a case, $1800-$2000 is a fair place to start. E-Stand is the best place to sell!!

                Good Luck,
                Mike

If you do put it on the e-stand remember to put a link to this thread on there so people can see that it's been verified as a genuine one by the members of this forum.
I would love to buy it but not sure i can spare that kind of money at this moment with a new baby. Ant.

                    Thanks for doing that Nico!

Yeah it seems a nice piece from what I've learned, although it took me a while to realise this!

Thanks Mike, I will put it on the e-stand thread and see if anything bites! I'm open to offers as I say, so if anyone fancies a quick sale at a decent price, i'm all ears!

The original pics were larger and better, but I had to squeeze them to make them fit in.

                        Thanks for doing that Nico!

Although saying that I don't seem to have the privileges to post anything on e-stand, is there any reason for this, is it because I'm a newbie?

Ah I see Nico. You may not know the answer to this, but would it be likely if I advertised it on here, it would get sold? So would it be worth my while subscribing in order to advertise it?
