There was a thread some time back showing a period industry magazine showing some ek manufacturers repainting eks after assembly. So it was possible to paint them without having to seperate the halves. That thread should be available through the search engine.
Also,if you are talented with masking tape, its not that hard to do a good job of masking off the beading.

    Looks deceive.
I received a Mint looking cross,of which i was suspicious.Frame had been polished and core repainted. Its condition was truly an illusion. It had received a makeover prior to selling.

The core paint on ek,s was factory baked enamel.A dab of acetone should effectively reveal the base of the paint.A small amount of acetone(nail polish remover effectively) on a q-tip,Dab,(dont rub) a small area of the paint. If it goes soluble and comes away on the end of the q-tip,then it is bogus paint.Acetone will not effect original enamel and should vaporise on the surface of original enamel.

      Hello,
I had some doubts, but I gererally believed that the paint was original.

I posted it because I of those doubts. Judging by the thick paint, it could be repainted, but since there are no traces on the rim and no other traces or damages, it would be impossible IMO.

I also posted this, because I was curious if the 113 ek2's perhaps had this more often.

      Thanks,
      Frank
