    EK 2 COPPER FRAME. Please opinions.

    Hi Everybody !
    A few days ago I purchased this WWII EK2.I have shown it to various fellows and are different opinions..some say "no good", others say "good" and others say "good" and points that it can be an early example :

    "If early ek's were plated with silver over another base metal, then this could be one of those , It should be remembered that early war pieces were not governed by the tighter standards of later war decs and were often not marked. "

    Here a some photos..frames seems to be made of cooper and plated..
    Ribbon passses U.V test, iron core is magnetic..has an open joint in the ring (no marked ) dimensions 44mm per 44 mm..will very much apreciatte opinions.<STYLE type=text/css><!--td.attachrow { font: normal 11px Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color : #000000; border-color : #000000; }td.attachheader { font: normal 11px Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color : #000000; border-color : #000000; background-color: #D1D7DC; }table.attachtable { font: normal 12px Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color : #000000; border-color : #000000; border-collapse : collapse; }--></STYLE>
    Thanks in advancer for your time and attention.

    Cooper frame is cleary visible on this photo..

    also notice that only very pure copper will oxidize dark green or lighter blue-ish green, this is the case

    The cross is original from the war. I am sure of that. German producers of the iron cross used many types of materials in the iron cross during WW2. Copper is one of those materials and is a very good material to plate with nickel/chrome. The details are crisp. Core paint is as expected. 1939 date and swastika have the correct proportions. Nothing is wrong with this cross.

      I would agree with Peter that regardless of the material, it certainly has the look of a genuine WW2 EK2..

          I would not worry about the open ring when the rest of the cross is good. The ribbon ring alone does not break or make a cross. This is how your cross left the factory during the war plus some nice patina.

            Ive got a cross which has gone very green on the back, which I presumed was copper.
            The cross ive got is marked, ill find it and take some pics, perhaps we might be able to tell what maker yours is if the cross matches mine.
