    KVK's/EK's with Orange Bars

Ok guys, this one is just for interest. I have a War Merit Medal with orange bars on the ribbon rather that red. As far as I know the KVK's with these are supposed to be early war issues? I haven't seen many orangy ribbons about and so am wondering how many are out there? If you have one (or more) in your collection please tell us. I've included EK's aswell because I have also seen them with orange ribbons. Here's my example:

    Cheers.

I've posted this in the past... but here is a Schinkel EK with orange/pinkish ribbon. It's definitely not faded as the color is uniform throughout.

              orange ribbon

              Dear Sirs,

the ribbons of EK and KVK/KVM are allways red, black and white. All my original decorations have these ribbon-colours, but you can find some where the sun or now the time has made the colour look as if it where some how orange (they might be bleached? in German verblichen). But you can today find new ribbons with wrong colours!

              Best regards
              John

                Hello

I too have a war merit medal with the orangey coloured stripes. They are totally genuine and are not that unusal on the war merit medals. As for the orangey coloured EK ribbons, I have seen these frequently referred to as 'Loy' ribbons. Loy apparently was a German ribbon manufacturer who made EK ribbons, pressumably among other items, which were allegedly the orangey coloured ones. I have no idea if this is accurate or not, but that is how they often described.

                Regards
                David

Just some thing to add here . Wear , fading , dirt will occure to any ribbon and varying discoloration will happen , and in pictures light and angel can infuence color intensity as well . There is actually another 3rd color .... a Red-orange ! Early Awards can be found with different color type ribbons . Probably maker by maker variation . Even the white on the ( deep to light ) orange ribbons varies from real white ( to cream white ) .
A sample of the other than red ribbon color shown below on two untouched , not cleaned but worn early ribbon mounts with early awards . Left is a deep orange - off white mount of an 39 Juncker EK2 and on the right a red-orange on a Schinkel B EK2 and a 4 year service award bar. Quit different orange and white !

                        Yes George :
Flash and shiny objects spells disaster normaly, .... just a unique special effect producing a 'Gardian Eagle" to the Schinkel B .
