    List of early EK2 manufacturers

Here's a list of early EK2 manufacturers, dated 1st quater of 1940. The list shows the manufacturers in the order they got the orders, i.e. Deschler was the first to get an EK2 order.

I've never heard of some of the companies...

    Hello

Many thanks for this Dietrich. A useful and interesting list. Some of the 'unknown' EKs are probably attributable to some of the names on here. A shame we can't match them up.

    Regards
    David

      Hmm...
Deschler is on top. Then Deumer and after that Juncker. Why is Deumer crosses marked 3 and Juncker crosses marked 2 then?

Interesting list by the way. Thanks for posting it.

Because in early 1940 there was neither a PKZ number nor an LDO number.

And I always thought, or heard, that Carl Forster & Graf made only packets.??? And I don't find them on the list of 142.

            Hi Dietrich

May I ask where the list came from?

                Great find Dietrich.

It's interesting that L.Chr. Lauer, Nurnberg is on the list twice.

The problem of matching up some of the names with a maker is the fact that many if not most of the early EKs made for official award by the government were not marked in any way.

Is this the firm of 'Ludwig Lauer'?

Yes, it is, Trevor. And this list above is a wartime document. I don't know why they're not included in the collector's list of makers. You know, the list of (142) or so makers.

Yes, I saw you noted the same thing about CF&G 3 years ago

I just thought this list could use another life here on the forum so I bumped it up again. There are a lot of interesting things to be seen here.

The fact that CF&G made Packets, and is seen on this list, makes me sure they made EKs. Also (perhaps little known) is the fact that CF&G Packets exist in two types: the so-called (common) "Hoard" variety, and a different one -- different paper and stamp. I don't have one of the latter, unfortunately.
                        Best regards,

Interesting ordering list - about 42 . It does tell us alot actualy . All the companies who were taking a stab at making early EK2s -according to the 1st quarter report - put out April 1940 maybe ?? . It certainly is not the first batch of orders which would have been a much shorter list - if a report was even done and put out > who knows ?? Anything done for EK1s and Spangen like this ??
I bet some of these companies never had their own dies and bought parts from S&L or some else . Yes - the unmarked crosses . ... bought parts ... no way linking these to the actual assembling companies . Pkz or LDO numbers did not exist yet . After getting a 'taste' of what is involved - companies come and go .
Some of the other big names are missing... like K&Q, BH Maier , Maybauer , W&L and more - which is not unusual as they may have their hands full with earlier orders ??
Carl Fo'rster & Graf is on the above EK2 list - so they may have made some amount of EK2s , but we cannot distinquish them being unmarked . They are an early application PKz #10 ... so where are they ? .... will we ever know ?

                            Trevor,

Is this one of the common "hoard' packets?
