    Knights Cross (boxed)

    Hello there

I have recently discovered a selection of German medals buried amongst a pile of my grandfathers things. I think these include a Knights cross, and two german crosses (gold and silver)

I have pictures available, but no means of uploading them (17 photos of knights cross totalling 18Mb)

I would rather like to know more about these items and wether it is worth holding on to them.

    Thanks
    James Edwards

Thanks for posting those photos, althougth the first is a bit dodgy.

The box contains a ribbon, which to my eyes has never been unfolded.

The medal itself has an oblong metal loop, marked 800. Underneath this is a soldered ring and the markings 800 again along with a number 2 on its side.

The outer strip of metal appears tarnished, but is otherwise undamaged.

I am informed that this is a "Juncker" type.

I will post photos and descriptions of the german crosses shortly

        James

            Hello James,

Grandpa had nice things! The Knight's Cross is a very valuable piece and in lovely condition.

            Best regards,
            Bob

Great crosses. Consider keeping them awhile - don't jump on the first offers you get, as I'm sure you will or already have! This KC and the DKiS are hard to find in this condition, and not already have been in a collection or two.

I agree with the above, I'd hold on for the moment and if you decide to sell then make sure you take your time and don't jump on the first offer. It would be interesting to see what else your grandad had, any chance of posting more pics ?

Pics are waaaaay to big. 72 dpi resolution and a maybe 575 pixels width is plenty.
                    (Ditto for the DK thread.)

                        Hello

That looks like a beautiful text book Junckers.

As with the DKiS, hold on to it for now.

                        Regards

That's a beautiful cased Knight's cross you have there. Even more special is that your grandfather brought it back from the war. I'd personally hang onto it
