I am new to the German Cross family and would like to someday own one for an Oberts uniform I own and now I think I have a chance to do so. A local collector has a reasonably priced G.C. in Gold with an asking price of $1450.00 w/o case. It is in very nice condition and is in every scence of the word identicle to ones I have looked at over time at different military shows and web sites (weight, pin construction, hook, its over all appearance) but what is throughing me is that this one is a 5 rivit construction and the number 2 is on the pin. The couple of books I have only talk about the 4 or 6 rivit construction and never a 5 and what I have seen on web sites also shows the 4 or 6 rivits. Is this right (5 rivit construction) for a pre 1945 Cross or is this made after the war? I wish I had pics of this award and hope to by next weekend. I have bought awards from this collector before and have always gotten good original items from him with a return policy but this time my gut feeling is..well I just don't know this time, only because of the rivits. I know that without pics it will be hard to tell (sorry all) but I need something to go on before I spend the money.

The maker mark of '2' is Junckers of Berlin. Juncker crosses do have 5 rivets, and therefore a DK marked '2' with 5 rivets is correct.
However, you will need to post photos to get an answer as to it's originality. I don't know what sort of price you would expect to pay in the States, but UK money $1450 is about £750 - quite a bit below what I would expect to pay for a decent Junckers DK. Hopefully it's the real deal and you will bag yourself a bargain, but post some pictures first.
