Screwback EK1 L54 Opinions Please!

This cross belonged to an elderly friend of mine. I know nothing about the screwback crosses. I would greatly appreciate any assistance. The paint on the core is beginning to flake. The core appears to be brass () butI don't know whether this is the reason for the paint loss or whether it has been repainted.

Please let me know your opinions regarding originality and value. This will probably be offered in the estand should it pass the test of authenticity.

William, this one is good as well. However, it appears the core was, in fact, repainted at one point.

I agree, looks authentic for this maker and does appear to be repainted.

Most of these L/54's were usually silver colored under the paint though and not brass or so I thought.
