D.H. Mayer's ek1 ?

I've always been unsure of this L/18 ek1, so would love to hear your comments. The date and swastika are not as sharp and the paint work on the core is different.
To be honest I always regarded this as a fake. So, making double sure, before I use it as a shooting target .

The mm on closer look, actually is an L/18, I too thought it was L/16 at first
