    ek1 with unusual setup...

My latest find, a nice ek with a very unusual setup...

Pin, hinge and cattch remind me of ek1 schinkel and round 3, but a catch on a plate you don't see very often on ek's.

I would really like to know the maker of this, presumeably early, cross.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ben

          Hi Ben,

Nice cross from an as yet unknown maker. Although this badge has a "UU" hinge/pin/catch setup, from Frank's GAB research "UU" is unlikely to be Wernstein and has itself become an unknown maker. Fyi, the same hardware set-up can be found on Wound Badges which are almost always found unmarked (I have an L/60 marked example - probably an outsourced badge though - and there are some L/10 marked WBs with the same unique obverse design but different hardware setups - I'd probably need a page to explain that fully though!). Imo the hardware is only similar to, NOT the same as, some Schinkel and Round 3 examples.

          Regards

This type of cross has been discussed before.

But I haven't got any clue for the maker.

Try to find an ek2 from Wernstein to compare the frames.
There is a Wernstein EK2 in the statistics.

              Luud

Ich will Müller heißen, wenn Wernstein der Hersteller dieses Kreuzes war.

Hi guys have to say this type of set up was used on Herman Wernstein U-boat and other KM awards so for me it a good choice regarding maker.

                          Hi,

The hardware was used on badges marked with the UU in a circle symbol. The problem is, more recent research by Frank H indicates that UU is probably NOT Wernstein - hence, unknown maker.

                          Regards

All of you who have replied: thank you.

Finding the maker will be though, I guess...
