    Oakleaves L/12 - opinions please

    Hello,

these oakleaves were purchased from a well known dealer in the 90s.
It belongs to a friend who is not on the internet so I offered to show it here.

I would appreciate any comments as I dont know anything on them.

    Thanks
    Klaus

    Hallo Klaus.
The oakleaves you show are postwar in my opinion.

      Oaks

L/12 Oaks are not my favourite, and from the pictures I'd be worried about purchasing this example.

I personally do like the makersmark as well as the 800 - stamp very much.

I am not an expert, but i would give it a chance!

          Thanks for your replies.

Should the L/12 be convex and the 800 stamped?
In this case, both are stamped in.

Stephen Priveteras "Iron time" and Gordon Williamsons "Histoty of the Iron Cross 1939" will show you how an original L12 must look like.

IMO it looks like an Godet; the stamps L12 and 800 are very deep!

But from the photos it is hard to say. Please compare your piece with the good photos in the books mentioned above.

Anyway: Your piece looks like being worn during the period.

              L/12

The shape and style the characteristics of a genuine Junckers piece are evident. The loop and mark look OK as well.
I'm a little concerned at the detail in the two areas ringed by Peter, the lower one might (just might) show a casting hole....but this could equally be due to honest wear.
L/12 Oakleaves dies surviving the war ?.......werent they destroyed in the 1944 bombing ?
As I mentioned L/12's are not my favourite...so I'd personally pass on these for this reason alone.
Has any one got L/12 800 Oaks to compare with this set ??
