    Scary Deschler DKiS fake

    Dear all,

This is to inform you about a very good fake DKiS, Deschler type, I handled. Next to the real thing, small differences can be noticed, also the enamel gives this one away.

      Thanks Frank...
Yep... these guys are really trying hard with the DKiG/S.
The reverse is a give away though, isnt it (fortunately)... but this one will definitely catch the unwary.
Did you notice the usual Deschler gap between the silvered disk and the swaz ?
      Regards

Yep, fairly scarey! I assume they have taken an original to pieces to cast all the parts.

I also assume that it would be slightly smaller than the original? Frank, did you manage to take any measurements?

That ugly pin/hinge give it away. Rivets look pretty darn good. Front looks good until enlarged. Once again, not a copy to serve as a filler but a fake intended to deceive! Once again criminal intent.

            Scary indeed

The reverse would have given it away for me, the sloppy pin especially.

But as you guys have said, this one shows just how much the DK seems to have been singled out for that extra bit of attention to detail by the fakers.

A $2000.00+ mistake waiting to claim a victim.

            As you said scary

              Hi,

              You are right, Martin.

for people without knowledge, it can be take for a good one, but if people have some knowledge of Deschler's you can see most wrong parts in reverse side. in front too there are mistakes.

              nice plate under the svaz.

Damm these things are getting good, scary really.
Thank you Frank for sharing this with the community.

When pieces are cast to copy and deceive do you think that these are collectors doing this?

                  Dez,
It could be collectors or dealers doing these fakes. I know of some big time dealers who got together and made dozens of fake silver frames with a picture of Hitler in them and a two or three line, handwritten dedication on the bottom which was done by a forger. These things sold for thousands! ( these guys were also doing copies of tunics to high ranking SS officers, Luftwaffe Generals, etc. using the original as a pattern and then selling the copy and keeping the real thing) Also another guy had an SS typewriter and a circular LSSAH document stamp and was producing dozens of EK award documents and selling them for big dollars. All were signed (supposedly) by Theadore Wisch and were to a guy named Otto Steinhausl. These were pretty good and the signature had been okay'ed by a handwriting expert, but one of the giveaways was there was no eagle and swaz where the circular document stamp went. One reason people do this is to sell the fakes to make money to buy the real stuff for their collections, along with the out-and-out crooks who do it purely for the money.

                  Cheers,
                  Brett
