Furthermore the attachment for the pin hinge should have these fluted marks in it, and the number should look like this. Cant tell from your pictures, can you check.

I have no doubt that the frame is a C.F. Zimmermann. The core still confuses me though. My only K&Q is a cooper core, and is a larger font than this one shown. So I couldn't make a detailed comparison. The core on my Zimmermann looks very similiar, but not exactly. If anything, this one looked more like one of my S&L cores, which really threw me for a curve. I'll leave this to the experts with their extensive experience, but I'm still confused why someone would remove a Zimmermann core for a doctored K&Q.

People are amazing. They do the damnest things for reasons only they understand. Who is to say what the reasoning was for this bastardization of this EK?

i made a little comparison. i think everybody can see that the core was definately no minted by zimmermann....
