The ribbon and loop are fakes.
The piece is a Iron Cross second class with Souval frames.

        Cheers.

are you sure about the ribbon

it seems to be old, has dirty places and seems to be original

          maybe late war front producing?

I have read that some RK holders used either their 2nd class or a private purchase 2nd class around their necks while in the field so the original RK was safe at home?

            Maybe one of these pieces

The loop is of the type often found on fakes of the knight cross and fakes of the oakleaf. You can sometimes see it on knight crosses from Souval. Those knight crosses from Souval are fakes.

I have a ribbon very similar to yours. Same type of small and sharp (pointed) "humps"^^^^^. It is folded and stitched at the ends same as yours, and have the same type of glossy surface. Same type of small ribbons stitched to the ends. The ribbon i talk about came with a Souval knight cross fake.

have you got a foto from the souval fake?

here are fotos from a ek2 (thanks to the user from mff) directly from an officer

No doubt about EK 2nd class have been converted to be used instead of the RK.
The problem is to prove if the EK has not been converted post war...I would not buy a converted 2nd class for more then a normal EK 2nd class is worth unless there are some rock solid provenance with it.

But regarding your ribbon, I am not able to say weather your ribbon is a fake or not, but I sure do trust Peter here.

Rove , i dont mean to be cheeky , but it is people like youu who are putting the senior members of this forum off answering questions. You came in here , asked a simple question and received aa answer , you then precede to question the answer...
If you think you know , why ask...
It is blatantly a fake , even with my minimal knowlege i can see its a fake.
                    Sorry .

Peter is quite correct in my opinion - Souval EKII with a dodgy ribbon and suspender.

Your Souval is a defiant fake. It doesn't take much effort to convert a ek2 to a RK. Heck all you have to do is get a postwar S&L loop and put in on an ek2. You need rock solid evidence before calling the ek2 an rk.

                          what is the problem?
thats a forum, and a forum lives because of questions.
and no one have to answer, or?
but only not asked questions are stupid questions.
i dont want to talk this piece to an rk, but i want to know facts.
and answers of members are facts, and a lot of facts are helping to make an opinion, isnt it?
it seems to better to show and ask here for nothing, i see

you know i like to find my pieces directly from the fields, not to buy it in stores.
but ground founds arent interesting for this collecting forum, i learnd

                          greeting
