    Types of round 3

Im looking to expand my collection of EK2´s and im looking at getting the other 3 types of round 3, I have the "thick" version but would like to know what the others are and how to tell them apart.
Ive found various round 3´s on the net for sale but as of yet am unable to tell them apart if indeed they are different.
The only one that im aware of is the version with the Swas on a platform.

The Schinkel 'B-type' also has a round three...

There are 4 types which are, the thin type, thick type, plateau and schinkel.

Here is the plateau. Note the swastika

To tell the difference between "thick" and "thin" you're either going to have to measure them yourself or get accurate measurement from the seller. The difference is only a millimeter or so, I think.

                  Hi,

i love the thick version because of the feeling when you have it in your hands. Because of the high weight and the thick(ness??) you think :..yhea that is an Iron Cross!

                  Regards
                  Andreas

What we call the thin version is the same thickness of a normal ek2. The thick version is double the thickness and as Andreas said it gives a nice feel when held. Below is a picture showing the difference in thickness between the two, with my ugly fingers

                        Thanks guys.
I knew what 3 of the types were but I was forgetting the Schinkel B!
That is one Ive been looking for, for many a month but with no luck.
How does the thick one compare to an Ubergrosse?
I thought I had the thick one but after finding out that the thin one is the same size as a normal ek, is that correct? I’m not too sure which one I have, ill have a look later.
Are there any variations of this theme, i.e. a thick plateau swaz as well as a thin?
Or just the 4 straight versions

                          Hi.

yes the thin one is the same size as a normal ek and the thick one has the the same width and height.
                          Only the thickness is different.

The mass of my thick one
                          • Heigh: 44,50 mm
                          • Widh: 44,52 mm
                          • Thick: 5,16 mm
                          • Weight: 23,5 gramms
                          are

                          Regards
                          Andreas

I went through my Iron Crosses and found 3 round 3's. The top left is the thick type, the top right is the thin type (unlike others that were posted) and the bottom is 1st Class.

Thick type. The frames are twice as thick as the standard Iron Cross frames.
