The cased and engraved with his initials German Cross in Gold of Major General Dietrich Von Choltitz. A very fine condition Deschler & Sohn of Munich produced German Cross in Gold. Enamel to the swastika good with very minor chipping. All gilt remaining to 1941 dated wreath. All of the black finish remaining to the surrounding star with slight rubbing to high spots. All of the silvering to the disc below the central swastika good. Wide tapering pin at reverse with large number '1' stamped to exterior tin. Convex construction. Four delicate domed rivets. Beautifully engraved to the reverse side 'DvC' (Dietrich Von Choltitz) with below 'Gen.D.Inf.' (General of Infantry). The German Cross in Gold is situated in its early style box but it is not gold lined and has the Deschler & Sohns Munich paper label applied to the silk of the upper inner lid. The black flock to the base, to which the award is situated in, is thin in places with the flocking still good in the area below the cross and around the outer edges. The exterior of the box is undamaged.

        Hello

The DKiG itself looks like a good original.

        Regards
