How can you identify an unmarked S/L EKI?

    Hello Gents,

I have an "800" marked S/L Knights Cross, and there are specific characteristics in the S/L KC different from the other makers.

To identify an unmarked EKI, can these same characteristics be applied?
Is it the numerals? Is it the ribbing? Did S/L make many, or any, unmarked pieces of the Iron Cross First Class?

    Cheers

    Hi Bill,

RKs and EK1s/2s were from obviously separate dies, therefore characteristics found on RKs are not necessarily found on EKs.

Here are some scans of my example. Imo the catch is the easiest way to pick an unmarked S&L.

    Regards
    Mike

          Thanks, Mike..............Excellent photos.

Did S/L make their own cases, as well ? Were they marked in any way ?

          Cheers

Just to add to Mike's reply...

Not all S&L EK1's have that style of catch, some have round wire, and some have a completely different hinge/catch combination.
