Greetings all,
Aside from beauty being in the eye of the beholder, does this EK1, marked 20 on the pin, look legitimate?
It looks like there is a trace of paint on inside edge the beadwork. Maybe some one tried to touch up the paint. It is solid and absolutely flat. The outside of the pin is very bright.

There was a very interesting thread on the manufacture of Iron Crosses using period literature. I think Skip put it up for viewing.

If I remember correctly, under some circumstances the crosses cores were re-touched up as one of the final procedures in the manufacturing process.

Try doing a seach on the forum and you should find it.
