EK2 Souval frame

This is my first EK2. The cross shape exactly matched with souval frame except the number 8 marking at the ring. please let me know your opinions.

Could it be something other than an 8? Souval's number is 98. Anyway that's what it is?

That's correct. With my understanding also, the souval number is 98. I think someone replaced the ring at cross or something. Thanks for your comment.

Although it looks like an 8 it doesn't seem as sharp as most maker marked numbers. The holes that should be in the middle of the 2 loops in the 8 aren't there. I only have a few marked EK2's but the numbers are much crisper than on the one you are posting. But then again I haven't seen them all.
