    A rare oversight from a main-stream dealer!

This little gem was listed as a lowly, bog-standard, EK2. The picture showed this not to be the case so I thought "what the heck, maybe the wrong pic has been applied" and I bought it.

For an €80 EK2, this was what turned up...

Sometimes a sharp eye and a little bit of luck does help!

Keeps your eyes open out there!

Thanks! In the flesh it actually is very nice condition. The frame has tarnished but the frosting is complete and the core just a little dusty.

There are still some deals out there if you look around enough, pay attention, and know your game.

                    Hello Richard

I'm sure that as a man of conscience you wouldn't want this preying on your mind. Therefore post it to me and be free of troubling thoughts.

Seriously, a great result and a super cross.

                    Regards
                    David

                        Hi,

a very nice story, and it's still more interesting because nearly the same happened to me.
In my early days as a collector of iron crosses i bought at a small stand on a flea marketa an EK 2.

In my early days as a collector of iron crosses i bought at a small stand on a flea market a EK 2 which I found beautiful because it had unusually straight cross arms.
I was not sure whether it is authentic, but the dealer promised that it is an original one.
So, i bought it for 80 Euros and after the flea market i went to a friend who is an expert in iron crosses.
He said: Good Schinkel B-Typ cross you bought there.
I am still pleased if I remember.
My second iron cross was a Schinkel B for a very good price.

                        Regards
                        Andreas
