    Mint '113' on Ebay

Just bought a mint cross (my very 1st mint EKII) on Ebay:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=120031284887

I looked on the forum search to find examples of 113's. I like the cross a lot. I bought it. But after I did I went back and noticed that the ring stamp of the one on Ebay differs slightly with the crosses on the forum. The '3' in 113 is a little different. Take a look. The cross I bought first, and then the crosses on the forum search. Kind of got the cart before the horse on this one. I wanted to grab it before someone else did, being a totally mint piece.

Looks OK to me, differences in wear perhaps but nothing too serious. Does the cross itself (frame/core) compare favorably to known 113s?

        Kind Regards,

          Thanks Steve,

From what I can see on Ebay it looks the same, the rounded inner frame corners. I wrote and asked the seller to shoot me some good clear photos so I can make a positive ID before he ships it out.

Yes, it looked to me like the maker stamp had some damage or loose material on it during the stamping process. I just wanted to run it by the forum for help.

How about posting a pic of your cross. That'd help...for those of us with filters that can't see the eBAy auction.

              Hank,

I'll post the photos as they come in from the seller.

Do not worry. These 113 crosses are fine and genuine in my opinion. These makermark variants is also documented in Gordons, The Iron Cross of 1939 p. 79

Peter, Shouldnt the 3 be half a mm in diameter? Just joking!!!!

I bet there is nothing wrong with the cross.

                    Hi,

I agree with my previous speakers. The mm is absolutely o.k.

                    One question:
I'm irritated a little over the price of 169$. That's more than 140 Euros!!
Is this the normal asking price for an EK 2 #113 in this condition?
                    Is this manufacturer so rare?

I like the crosses from Hermann Aurich. They have a lot of character and it has this beautiful frosting which became a little bit yellow over the years.

                    Here is mine for compare:
Probably the color was not dry during the production process.
Therefore it stuck a little bit at the framework. After the first vibration the core stuck no longer. Because of this there is no color present at the place on which the core clung.

                          Beautiful cross Paratrooper,

The 113's are really a nice cross. I finally got my e-mail photos down-sized to show here. This is the cross I bought from Ebay. I know the price was high, but still not TOO high for the complete set of cross, tissue, 11 1/2" period ribbon and original packet. I have always thought back on the 1970's gunshows where you could buy the same thing for $50.00. I always wanted to find one of these sets for years now, and this was my chance. I'll post some much better photos when I receive the cross in the mail. Take a look....
