To fix, or not to fix

Fellow collectors: I am looking for advice and opinions here. I have a very nice 1914 EK I in my collection, that has only one flaw. The threads on the screwpost are pretty beat up. Beat up to the point where the disc can be easily pulled off without turning it. Should I take it to a jewler and have the threads re-cut, and have the inside diameter of the screwdisc sleaved and re-drilled, should I give the threads a tiny dob of locktite, or should I leave things as they are? There's a nagging voice in my head telling me that my "baby" will be beautiful after he's been circumcised and had plastic surgery, but there's another voice telling me that my "baby" is beautiful right now. And reality is, the 'baby" is pretty nice. What do you folks say?

What the hell? I realize that you are new but maybe take a second, read and then decide to hit the send button! <!-- / message -->

At this point, I'm not sure if it's my ignorance or my analogy that has irritated Mr. Kane, but I appologise for both. Thank you to all of you for your opinions. They seem to all be unanamous. My baby stays the way it is.

Nicholas, I've read much worse! I'm certainly not irritated but more so concerned.

With all of the PC going on and the fact that Paypal gave (this) site the boot your description regarding a medal just hit me wrong....we are all passionate about our hobby BUT w/ other people looking in and especially looking for fault, I think, let's not give them amunition
                Regards,

They say its better to leave them like they are, if i were you, i would leave it like it is now
Think about it, they are historical items, and if they have some damage or something, its a thing of all the years, all the places it has been to, and all the people who grabed it, owned it, etc
Damage is a thing of the years it has, you cant avoid it
                  Cheers
