    My grandfather gave me this

My grandfather died a few years back now. He gave me an Iron Cross which he acquired when at Dunkirk during the landings. I cant remember when it was but I think it may have been Aug 1944. Anyway this Iron Cross has the number "65" stamped on the pin at the back, I know this is a manufacturers number but I dont know which one. I know it is probably nigh on impossible to trace the owner of this award as so many were issued but any advice would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks

    Daren

Number 65 was used by the maker K&Q, Klein and Quenzer.

Your are correct, trying to find the recipient of your Iron Cross would indeed be
impossible without any other facts being known.

There exists no rank lists for the Iron Cross First and Second Class. Unfortunately Third Reich awards were not serial numbered so tracing the owner is impossible.
