The first one is no good in my eyes and taste. Made in the 80's and on. The second one might be a good one made in the 60's with crisp details and frosting. Ask the seller for better photos of that one just to be sure.
i've bought exactly a piece like Darrell's from an friend this week.
I searched for for a long time such a piece.
Only the core was new. The remaining parts are from the old production of the 39er pieces.
It's the same quality like pieces from wartime.
Also the ribbon rings with the makers mark "4" were used.
I don't know whether only S&L manufactured the earliest pieces with the marks. So far I saw it only from them in this form.
My piece is in the same good condition like the very nice example from Darrell.
