Dear all,
This is somewhat of a mystery. I recently acquired this nice 'Spanienkreuz in Silber mit Schwerter' with so-called 'hochpolierten Kanten'.
The cross (marked: L\11) came in the box as shown. It was bought about 15 years ago in the USA directly from the vet that 'liberated' it himself.
It came with the carton 'Shuber' of the KVK1 (maker-marked: 'Steinhauer & L******252;ck') and had a box - not marked and no KVK on the top - that is IMO to small to accomodate a Spanienkreuz. The box is nicely marked 'LDO'.
Am I right to suggest that the US soldier just 'placed' this cross in a box/shuber that was available at the time? Or could it be that the box - of course not the shuber - indeed belongs with the Spanienkreuz?
I really do not know....I am really happy with all 3 pieces so that's not the problem...All comments are welcome!
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Coco
