    Wide Frame EK

I posted an unmarked EK2 a while back and it was identified by a number of members as a wide frame made my maker #24. Did any other makers make a wide frame cross like this or is it distinctive to maker 24?

    Only a 24 is a wide frame

If thats the case, I guess I could use this unmarked 24 I have towards my goal of collecting all maker marked EK2's. Would this be legit for such a collection? If so I guess it would also apply to an unmarked Souval, since these are unique to the maker and do not need to be marked to know who made them without a doubt. What does everyone think about this?

        Hello

In my opinion, if you have an EK which is clearly attributable to a particular maker, eg your wide frame and Souval crosses, then they must count towards your goal of having an example of every makers pieces.

Good luck with your quest by the way. I'm trying to do the same, but I have a long way to go !!

        David

Thanks. It will be along road but what fun would it be if not. This is good because I have 2 unmarked crosses, that being the wide frme and a Souval which I just recieved today in the mail. Both have been checked out on this forum and given the thumbs up. Are there any other EK2's that fit in this category, with very distinguishable distinct feautures that set them apart from others? My other ones so far are MM25, MM44, and a nice Shinkel. It's a start. I have also got sucked into MM'ed Imperial EK2's, with a handful of them in my collection too.

            Hello

The Klein & Quenzer, maker 65 and the Rudolf Wachtler and Lange, maker 100 are pretty easy to spot.

You have an EK by Jakob Bengel, maker 44. I'm jealous. I've been after one of these for ever and just never seem to find them - or if I do, someone has bought it just ahead of me. Do you have any pictures of it that you could post?

            Regards
            David

Just tried scanning a few shots but it says the file is too big. I'm going to have to work on this, although I've posted scanned shots before. Let me know your email and I'll send them to you. I got this of the estand not long ago and really liked the darkened patina of this cross. Was online when it came up and grabbed it, at a good price too. I really like this cross.

                    Hello

As far as I am aware maker '13', Gustav Brehmer, is a 'standard' iron cross - not a wide frame.

I've attached a scan of one of my EKs which is marked '13'.

                    Regards
