For what it's worth.
The directional orientation of the rings is the same as a standard EKII. Only the ring sizes seem to have been changed. There really is no logical purpose for this as the same results with a larger ribbon ring can be had with an unaltered EKII.
I wouldn't consider it a field up grade to an RK.

Just a thought...
I would expect a field upgrade piece to show more wear than this nice EK - assuming that it was a field worn piece. From the photos I see very little, if any wear to the core.-Calvin Hall, repressed Appalachian American.

Jeff, with something like this.....it has to SHOUT to you! This example doesn't even whisper if you understand what I'm saying! Coupled with the post war ribbon it appears to be merely an imitation of what is seen in collector books which in the past have been greatly in error.Regards,

I do believe I have read about EK2s being used as RK's, but I have to agree with the others on this particular one.. It seems like a post-war homemade piece
