    EK2 1914 x 3 Crowns?

    Hi All,

Not sure if this imperial or crosses forum applicable but here goes:

I received six 1914 Ek2s today and have been admiring them greatley since arrival (we all do it! ). Well looking at the different makers and construction I've seen three widley different crown styles. I've tried to capture this but as usual my photography skills have probably let me down.

Can someone pls explain the different styles? Are they the crowns of different republics?

    Thanks in advance,

    Angus

    First one:

    Marked KO on ribbon loop

    Second one:

W on loop (not ribbon loop), crown larger at top and slimmer at bottom

      And finally:

No markings but fine detailing and prominent top piece to crown:

        Dear Angus,

It is each time the EmperorĀ“s crown (Wilhelm II.) you see, differences are due to the different makers.

Each maker will have different core characteristics, some of the more renowned makers feature very distinctive and elaborate crowns while others are less pronounced and lack overall detail and crispness.
