    3 x EK2 opinions please…

    Opinions please…

I recently purchased these three EK2’s. They are all unmarked. They all have a magnetic core.
I like to know if they are original (I think they are, with my limited knowledge!)
And if I am right, who made them?

    Thanks in advance!

    The first one….

    Height: 44,9mm
    Width: 44,9mm
    Thickness: 0,44mm

The core is loose, and look repainted.

The reverse of the first EK2 did not show up! So here it is!

Based on the fact that the first cross is apparently slightly bigger than usual (by about 1 mm on the height and width), I would guess that it was made by the Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Hanauer Plakettenhersteller (Prasidialkanzlei # "24"), whose EKs are recognizable by their slightly "fatter" frames.
As to the other two, I don't have any idea who made them, but they don't scream, "Fake!"

I have no idea what the makers on the last two are either, but i like them.

I knew the ”big” one (44,9), might be a ”24”.
I got an EK2 “24” in my collection, and it is quite similar, but not completely identical.
So I was not sure about this!

But I’m glad that you think they all are original! Even though I only got two replies!

                    Thanks to Mads and George.

on the first cross, the '24' one, check on the little ring (not the ribbon ring but the one attached to the cross) to see it it has any markings. I have a 'fat frame' ek2 with no maker number on the ribbon ring but it has an acorn stamped on the little ring.

Would be worth checking yours for this as well.

Hmmmm... needs to get my eyes checked!

                        Hi Rich,

It sure has a marking of some sort! – I can’t tell if it’s an acorn.

And you were right, it would be worth checking!

I saw your tread on the subject! – But as far as I could see, you got no real answers for your questions.
Is this a common mark for the “24”, or is it a “44”???

Thanks Rich for opening my eyes for the little details!

Here is a photo of the little ring…

                          And HERE is the photo....

Does it look like an acorn?

Congratulations! I think you've got an acorn there! Welcome to the very exclusive 'acorn' club!!

As for if it should be '44' and not '24', I don't know because there wasn't much interest in my original post. I'm thinking '44' becuase this is the only one that I know of which has a maker marked ring, as shown in the book 'Iron Cross of 1939'.

                              Interesting!

My "24" also has an unusual mark on the small ring:

                              Could you check yours, Bjoern?
