I've heard anything about this problem. Did you have to
force the case to close? Stunning cross you have!!
I prefer "26's" like yours!!! Frosting more "cream" than "white".
I can't wait to post some pics of the "15" Fredrick Orth EKI I purchased
off the E-stand!! Should have it by Friday.
I know the one you are talking about. That is a beautiful cross you got there. Can't wait to see more pics. How long did it last on e stand? These days if you aren't checking it almost every minute, then you are going to miss some really good crosses, like the cased L/18 yesterday, I've just stop crying long enough to type this. HA HA!

To futher add to this thread..

The 26s found in the Russian horde did not come with the outer cartons. Some were later sold with outer cartons that supposedly came from the horde but the cases were later discovered to be reproductions.

I believe all of the horde pieces have the square button release on the case.

One will note that most of the crosses have soem type of bubbling to the black core finish. It is very hard to find one with no bubbling to the finish.

Additionally, it was rumored that the same source who found the EK horde indicated that there were other medals in the find such as mint German crosses etc. Unfortunately nothing has ever turned up from this part of the story.

      Hi Gary.

your statement which you wrote in Posting #12 is absolutely correctly.
If you take a look at my first posting (#3) in this thread you will determine that i quoted already what was posted by COL Everett in another post about the horded piece. He was one of the first collectors those can see and examine the horde.
As far as I know he bought the largest part of the crosses.
Your information surely originates from this source.
If you didn't read the posting of COL Everett yet then you can do that now by using the link to my posting #3. It is very informative and leaves no questions open.

      Regards
      Andreas

        Hi Andreas,

Yes my info comes from COL Everett. I recall his original thread but wanted to add the fact that other awards were also supposedly found in the horde. I am not sure if COL Everett addressed this in his original thread but he did pass this info on to me in conversation. (I was too lazy to look up the original thread!).

By the way, you have some beautiful crosses that have been posted both in this thread and others. I need to post some of mine.
