    EK 2 marked?

I've gaot a strange EK II award that is marked with the numbers 137 (I think), what does this mean?

Hi, Kevin. Could it be L57? That would be the LDO # for Boerger & Co. As far as I know the Präsidialkanzlei #'s only go to 135 and there's no L/37. Either way it's probably a 3rd Reich replacement.

      Hi,

which EK have you got? 1914 or 1939? Where is the mark exactly?

      Greetings!

It's a 1939 EK II and it's marked in the ring that holds the ribbon.

          Hi Kevin,

this is really strange. I've got a listing of all EKII 1939 makers:

          1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 13, 15, 16, 19, 22, 23, 24, 25, 27,
          33, 35, 40, 41, 42, 44, 49, 52, 55, 56, 65, 66, 75, 76, 80,
          93, 95, 96, 98, 100, 103, 106, 108, 113, 120, 123, 125, 128,
          133, 137, 138, 142, L/3, L/11, L/12, L/13, L/58

There IS a "137" and a "138" and "142" too. I've never cared about it, but now... If someone here has got an idea, please let us know!!!
The only possible reason could be, that this cross war manufactured by a not licensed maker who used his own mark without a permission of the Ordenskanzlei and before they created the numbering (LDO) system. There were some EKs produced without permission of the Kanzlei and after they made the LDO the manufacturing was illegal. Maybe it is one of these, later illegal, pieces.

          Greetings from Germany!!!

I have the soldiers EKII citation, he received this award on 21/9/41. So I don't think it's an illigal piece. And I'm pretty sure it's his EKII, because I received it from his family.
