What's the story behind some of the maker marks you see on 1914 Iron Crosses, such as KO and KAG? Who were they and did they keep making crosses for 1939? What happened to alot of the makers after WW2? Did they cease to exist or keep on in business?

I have a 'JFS' 1914 EKII and a nice 'JFS' Close Combat Clasp which seems to suggest that they did carry on making awards (and a lot of other different ones too) during WWII.

Dear Steve,
Some of the maker in WWI continued to manufacture awards/EKs in WWII, such as Godet and Meyerbauer. Many of the companies that manufactured award in WWII seemed to disapper from the medal market after the war but some did not, most notably Steinhauer and Luck and Rudolf Souval.

That's interesting, as I have a S & L KVK 1 with swords and a R S Coastal Artillery Badge, and I don't have a big collection. Who are KAG and KO?Comment
