It's a Bronze Mother's Cross and a minature in its LDO case.

The Large Mother's Cross would be worth ~ $30, the cased Minature probably up to around $75-80 (if the top of the box is still present).

Its more common known as Mother's cross, but it is also called Cross of Honour of the German Mother
Or in german: Ehrenzeichen der deutschen Mutter

The prices are different between grades

A cased gold one could worth 90-100 dollars aprox
When a cross doesnt have the case, its a bit less priced

And here you have some info about it:

            Date Instituted

            16 Dec 1938

There were 3 kinds of large mother's cross

            Bronce, Silver, Gold

This award was awarded to the moms with had certain number of children

The bronce award was for mothers with 4 or 5 children
The silver one was for mothers with 6 or 7 children
And the gold one was for moms with 8 or more children

Although the institution date was 16 Dez 1938, the version shown here is the 2nd Pattern (most common). The 1st pattern was made from this institution date till mid 1939 when the second pattern replaced it

                Yes! forgot that!

The reverse of the 1st pattern is different (different writtings) from the 2nd one (the one you have there)

And, a silver 1st pattern one could cost 950 bucks without case

                      Darrell,

So that's how it all worked........I often had to wonder about that!

                      Thanks for the tip.
