I am very glad that here comes another one and shed more light on it regarding its authenticity.
Date and frame of the crosses agree completly by all means.

Interesting and not to be ruled out. Out of curiosity, what did the veteran have to say about it regarding:

• date of award
• was it his award piece or was it bought as a replacement (if so what year)

Too bad. Information like that would prove to be very usefull (especially if it were a wartime replacement).

fantastic cross Frank, too bad we can't place it for sure as wartime.
Do you think this could have even passed wartime codes? or are we talking very early?
btw, do we presume all one-piece EK1s to be early?

Yes, looking at that catch, the Tombak base metal and overall execution, I ASSUME it is early, pre LDO.
