KVK I m/ Schwerten- needle pin

    Hello Forumites,
Attached are photos of a KVK I with swords with an unusual attribute...a needle pin. It is a very handsome and well made piece, and is vaulted.
Your thoughts and opinions are solicited.
    Thanks in advance,
    G.

                  Hi Greg.
I think the cross is ok. If you look close you can see the method used to cut away the flesh around the design. In this case they have used a saw by the looks of it.

                  Cheers.
                  Peter

                    Hello Peter,
I too noticed these little "touches".
At the sword hilts, removing the excess metal allowed more precise control of the vaulting between the arms of the cross versus the vaulting done to the sword hilts. Certainly done by someone who knew his craft.
I believe it to be a period, private purchase piece.
                    G.

Don't have a lot to add except there's something similar on the thirdreichmedals (Jamie Cross) site. Look under cased medals and badges.

The pin looks very similar imo but the catch is different though.

                          fat swords

                          Hello,

At first I thought it to be an Otto Shickel example due to the fat sword blades, but the reverse has really thrown me off.
