    My first EK1

    Hello everyone,

I recently aquired my first EK1 and decided to share some pictures of it with you all.

This is a small frontside picture:

And a larger one (I added more light to the picture, otherwise it was difficult to see details):

This is a large shot of the backside:

Once more the back, but now you can clearly see the mark:

          I appreciate your feedback.
Can you tell me why this is a fake?
I bought it from a man who has an extensive collection of German militaria. He assured me it was real and that he sold it because he was specialising in daggers.

Welcome to the forum. Don't be too upset, you're definitely not the first person this has happened to.
There are a number of things wrong with this cross. Try doing a search for L/54, or "fake EK 1", you should find a wealth of info. Also, check out the EK1 info on the Wehrmacht Awards homepage.
And get with the seller to see if he'll give you any money back....

I can only agree with the other guys. The cross is a fake that can be found with artificial patina and varius hardware and markings like the Deschler marking (1).

              Cheers.

In the future: try to post here before you buy. You will get many good advise. And don´t be sad, we have all been ****ed sometime.

Wow, well first I should say I'm of course quite disappointed. I was very exited about this cross. I will contact the seller immediately and demand an explanation.

Second, I thank you all for the answers and expertise you show!
This is a setback for a beginning collector (with a limited budget), but it won't stop me from continuing to collect. Next time I will definitely ask for your advice before I buy something.
Though it wasn't pleasant to find out my first EK1 is a fake, I immediately see that I made a good decision when I joined this forum.

                    Once more: thank you all!

                      For those who are interested:
The man I bought the cross from was as surprised as I was. He bought it at a militaria sale in Ciney (Belgium) from an Englishman. He had no idea it was a fake EK1.
As compensation he is going to send me a KVK 1.k he was going to sell.
                      This is the add:

The KVK is a good one.

                        Cheers.
