    DKiG and DKiS Question

    Hello,

Could the DKiG and DKiS be awarded to people in administrative and other supportive roles not involved in direct combat?

    thanks,

      Hi Anthony,

I thought the same thing, but I noticed many high-ranking administrative officers, including Generals, lacking this prestigious award.

      regards,

      Darren

The gold version was awarded for bravery and the silver version was awarded to exeptional deeds in the military operations level. The military character for both awards is clearly there! This also becomes clear that -to be awarded the German Cross in Silver - it was a condition to have been already awarded the EK1 or the Spange des EK1 WW1 or the KVK 1st class

Both awards are strictly military awards. The notion that the silver version is more a 'war effort award' in the sense of "administration of production of goods or such" is wrong.

          Hi Dietrich,

Thanks for excellent information. This would certainly explain the lack of these awards at the Luftgau level of command.

          regards,

          Darren
