    Zimmermann Ritterkreuz

I'm interested in finding out more about Zimmermann KCs. How scarce are they and what is fair market value for a good quality one? Are there stats on how many were produced by Zimmermann? Can anyone post pics of a good example?

    Would appreciate the help

A simple search and this came up: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=zimmermann+rk

    Cheers.

There are quite a few Zimmermann KC's on the market at this moment.
All of them are in poor condition and reputedly come from a burnt out building.

There is one on Regimentals and one with Oaks on Weitze.

The price is quite attractive but you have to live with the condition they are in. Both the examples mentioned on dealers sites seem to be the better ones from the batch.

The unmarked Zimmermanns, ie no '20', have oval loops with the L/52 marks instead. This cross is '20' marked, and has a more typical ribbon loop. It is 800 marked, not at the tip, but in the middle twist. The ends of the loop are slightly 'tucked-in' to follow the curve,to finish it off....I am totally comfortable with this loop belonging to this cross.

Thank you for your expertise Harry.

I just asked because the Regimentals example is a "20 800" marked piece with the oval loop.

I was having thoughts about the Weitze cross, maybe the cross came without a loop and they added Oaks because they didn't have an oval loop. Again these are just my thoughts!

The 20 Marked crosses normally do have oval loops, but the loop should not be L/52 marked...The regimentals cross is one of those found recently in a burned out factory, a batch of them surfaced last year and came up for sale on many dealer sites. The are totally OK, but a bit rusted on the core....

Here's one. Marked 800 20 bu no marking on the loop which is oval. I also have several on file with the 'straight loop' and '800' marked more to the middle.
