EK1 mm26 mirror image

I just bought a EK1 mm26 and on the front side of the pin is the standard 26 mark but on the back side of the pin is multiple images of the 26. These images are not exactly lined up with the front image both vertical and horizontal. I'm guessing these images are from the base plate that the pins are stamped on being impressed with the 26 stamp by multiple hits and then transferring that image to the next pin being stamped . Does this sound correct ? In the picture the front stamp does not line up with the well defined image on the back but is more in line with the blurred images to the right. This is the only one I have so I can't check others. Thanks
