    Can I introduce?

After seeing the picture of Dietrich I wonder if there is still some space for the small boys here…

I am relatively new (as a member, not as a reader) to your forum, and wanted to introduce myself by showing off the crosses part of my collection.
Some of the items I will be showing again for closer examination by you.

The Hindenburg joke marks the spot were I went wrong twice, those two crosses above are no good in my opinion.
    Yes, I think I was Floched…
(I have some concerns about the brown envelope to the right also.)
The reason why they are still on the picture ?
Because it STILL hurts after years!!!

Can you imagine that the sunburst screwback was my most favourite cross for years?
For years I admired a fake.
    That stings…

The joke is about the 1914 Star to the Grand Cross at the right of picture.
I call it a joke because it is the most obvious reproduction I ever saw.
But I needed to fill a gap in the 1914 section of my display.

The man who offered the Hindenburg Star to me, was convinced it was an original piece.
It was an old collector, I guess in his seventies.
He assured me there were no reproductions of any type on the market and then he started to calculate me how much money was involved when dies had to be produced before a medal could be born.
He ended his story stating something like: ‘Those stories about reproductions are just a trick of collectors trying to get bargains. Well, I don’t get fooled, young man! This ain’t a cheap piece and I want $25 for it!’
After listening very politely to all his collecting stories I finally got it for $15 and every time I see it, I am in a good mood again.
The man was not pulling me a leg, it was his honest conviction.
He even offered me a real Warsaw shield for about $20.

Really, it was a very honest and kind man!
But I think it was about time he started to look for a new hobby, like fishing or what...

            -

I guess that most are "small boys" here, so don´t bother about that.
            It´s always nice with newcomers.

                        Hello Calvin,

I haven't determined all, but I hope I will soon with a little help.
Unmarked pieces are still very hard for me to put a maker on.
I will post a list asap, and then post the crosses which are not clear to me.
